“Christ embodied in Leitourgia and Diakonia”

Sunday May 15th, 2011

Delivered by Pastor Ronald Boelte

As the people of God's pasture and the flock under His care, we gather together as a community around Christ's bodily presence to receive His gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation. As we go out into the world, we embody Christ and share His mercy and compassion in concrete ways with those who are in need.

“The Jesus Whom You Crucified”

Sunday May 8th, 2011

Delivered by Deacon BJ Armstrong

Can you imagine what it would be like to walk with and talk with Jesus---yet not know it was really Him? Every day we have the opportunity to do just that---to walk with Jesus and listen to Him speak to us through Scripture. And every day we have the opportunity to speak with Him in prayer. Today's readings are a reminder of just how close we are to Jesus in Word, Sacrament, and prayer.

Gamaliel’s ‘If’

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Delivered by Pastor Ronald Boelte

Do you know someone who has trouble believing the resurrection of Jesus? Even among the disciples of Jesus, Thomas was one who had difficulty believing in the resurrection. It took a great deal of influence---the influence of Jesus in person---to convince Thomas of the truth of the resurrection! Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Though we don't have the privilege of seeing Jesus in person as Thomas did, we do have the privilege of seeing Jesus in the Word. We have the privilege of being touched by Jesus in Holy Baptism. And we have the privilege of being in close communion with Jesus in the Lord's Supper.
